Iteneraries

Day 1 : Leh – Spituk - Zingchan (5 Hrs)

Today morning after having breakfast you will drive to Spituk. Visit the Spituk Gompa, built about 500 years ago. Here you will meet the horses and horseman with all trekking team. Start the trek from here by crossing a bridge and walking south-west of the river Indus through flat and desolate plane at the foot of the stock mounting.Gradually, you will leave the view of busy Leh-Srinagar highway and move towards wilderness of Himalaya. Soon you arrive at Zingchen through a gorge, which gives you the feeling of complete isolation. Stay overnight in Camp at Zingchan.

Day 2 : Zingchan - Yurutse (4-5 Hrs)

The morning is free time to adjust to the mysterious air. After taking your lunch, we will take you to the City Centre to leisurely walk along the main bazaar observing the varied crowd and looking into the curio shops. A particularly attractive sight is the line of women from nearby villages sitting along the footpath with baskets of fresh vegetables brought for sale. Behind and around the main bazaar, are many smaller markets of interesting little shops selling curios, jewellery, handicrafts etc. Down the main bazaar, in the opposite direction are the Tibetan markets where one can bargain for antiques, curios and a whole range of souvenirs. Later we drive you to visit the Leh Palace & Sankar Gompa, a small and pretty Gelug-pa monastery, a branch of Spituk Gompa. Wind up the day's tour with a visit to the Shanti Stupa from where you can have dramatic evening views of the town and the Indus Valley. Dinner & overnight the hotel.

Day 3 : Yuru tse – Gandala pass – Skiu (6-7 hrs)

From Yurutse follow the path along the mountain side, then cross a small valley and follow zig zag steep path. Trek by gradual climbing to Gandala pass off (4970m) which provide wonderful view of Stock range, Markha valley and the Zanskar range. Spend few minutes for a nice picture and romantic roll down; hear the whistle of the marmot. Then walk the long descent towards Shingo for 2 hrs that will lead to the valley of Markha and after few hundred meters you reach skiu village. Stay overnight in Camp at Skiu.

Day 4 : Sku to Makha village 3800m (7-8 Hrs)

An easy and long walk to Markha village. The trail follows the Markha river heading eastwards towards the Markha Valley. A great deal of vegetation, one can come across varieties of wild mountain flowers and animals. Keep going as you cross the settlements of Narding, Zara and Chalak. Thereafter, walk along the left bank of river and after another crossing climb towards Markha Village -the biggest village of the area. This village has 25 houses. An old fort dated back to 1830's can be seen here with walk till beautiful camp site. Stay overnight in Camp at Markha

Day 5 : Markha – Hankar - Thachuntse (5-6 Hrs)

After breakfast trek to Hankar village an easy trek. Just leaving behind the Markha village by crossing the rivers without any bridge. Continuing the trail, leads to Hankar village. Hankar is the historical village Then continue trek to Thachungse . Stay overnight in Camp at Thachungtse.

Day 6 : Thachungtse –Nimaling (4-5 Hrs)

Markha After breakfast the trail climbs steadily up to the narrow valley to reach Nimaling (4900 m)which is a plain broad meadow. The people of Markha Valley come here in summer for pasture their yaks, sheep, goats, and horses occasionally wild sheep and wolf. Stay overnight in Camp at Nimaling.

Day 7 : Nimaling –Kongmaru la – Shang Sumdo (6-7 Hrs)

After breakfast start trekking to reach Kongmaru La (5100 M). From the pass you can have a wonderful view of the Indus valley and Karakoram Range and lots of prayer flags. Steep decent to Chu-schema, then follow until Shang village. The last camping of Markha valley trek. Stay overnight in Camp at Shang.

Day 8 : Shang Sumdo – Hemis – Leh

After breakfast trek down to Hemis monastery, which is one of the oldest and richest monasteries in Ladakh. Visit Hemis monastery and drive to Leh, enroute visit Thiksey Monastery, Shey Palace and Stok Palace cum museum. Tour ends with sweet memories of Markha Valley Trek of Ladakh...
