Rigzin Jora laid foundation stone for war memorial - Aug 7 2013 - 10:37 p.m

Leh: Today, the foundation stone at Skyatsaks Chowk(petrol pump) for war memorial was completed by Mr. RigzinJora, Minister of Urban and Rural Affairs. The Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Mr. RigzinSpalbar and Lieutinent General Rakesh Sharma were also present at the occasion. RigzinSpalbar gave speech correlated to the significance of the role of the army and that the people of Ladakh are very patriotic and history has time and again prove this and this war memorial is proof of it. He further added that the main motive of building this war memorial is to remember and honour those brave soldiers who laid their lives for our motherland and to bring patriotism in the hearts of the coming generations. He announced that a petrol pump will be built opposite to TCP Choglamsar on the five kanal land, from which the profit will be utilized to help the poor patients who cannot afford good medical facilities, war widows and the ex-servicemen.

Rigzin Jora said that army and civilian share a symbiotic relationship, where both are benefitted. Army has played a great role in the construction of roads, opening of schools, providing job to the war widows and has recruited hundreds of boys of Ladakh in the army. Not only this, the poor farmers of Ladakh is also benefitted by selling their vegetables to the army. He further appreciated the government of India for giving special attention to Ladakh that resides on the border area of two different countries, and realizing that the people of Ladakh are hard core nationalist. He has given fifty lakh rupees for building this war memorial and also announced ten lakh rupees for the war hero colony and ten lakh rupees for building a community centre.


Chairman National Advisory Committee Visited Kargil - Aug 7 2013 - 10:37 p.m

Kargil: A high level team of National Advisory Committee headed by its Chairman Sham Sawaran Former Foreign Secretary Government of India, Retd. Lt. Gen. PC Bardwaj and Retd. Lt. Gen. Prakash Menon visited Kargil on 7th August 2013 and had a meeting with LAHDC Kargil and District Administrator. The meeting was attended by Advisor to CM Qamar Ali Akhone, Chief Executive Councilor Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, Executive Councilor Haji Ghulam Amir Kamran and Syed Kazim Sabere, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Fida Hussain, SSP Kargil Sujit Kumar, Chief Engineer Vijayak Anil Kumar and other district officers. During the meeting the Chairman NAC briefed about the reason of their visit which is to recommend the government about the security and infrastructural development and accordingly sought suggestions for development of this border district, also about the progress, deficiencies and other special requirements for the development of the border areas. Kargil and its peoples have been at all times on the forefront in serving the nation in every situations and conditions. Therefore, at one of the meeting, the Advisor to the Chief Minister Qamar Ali Akhone recommended to the government of India to provide top main concern to the requirements and demands of the Kargil people. The first and foremost one is improvement in the air connectivity during winter season (AN32 Service, and road connectivity by increasing in the pace of work on Zojjila tunnel from Baltal to Menamarg, Diversion of NH1D from Gumri to Mushkow, a tunnel from Pandrass to Mushkow, construction of 113 Panikhar Phalgam Road, improvement and maintenance of the declared NH 301 Kargil Zanskar road, snow clearance of internal roads maintained by VIJAYAK during winter season, tunnel on various peaks to cut short the distance.


BJP reconstitutes Mahila Morcha - Aug 7 2013 - 10:37 p.m

Leh: The executive body of Mahila Morcha was reconstitutes on 5th August 2013 at Leh by ruling party BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party). Many BJP leaders and officials were in full attendance like the regional President Tsering Dorjay, former MP Thupstan Chhewang, leader of opposition in LAHDC Dorjey Motup, acting President General Lobzang Nyantak, President Yuwa Morcha DorjayAngchuk , Vice President BJP Nazeer Ahmed and General Secretary Nawang Samstan. Along with General Secretary and President Mahila Morcha Tundap Dolma and many other leaders, officials and hundreds of BJP representatives from Leh and many people from neighbouring villagers were also present. The leaders appealed to all the members of Mahila Morcha to work with commitment to strengthen BJP. All the speakers talked about the importance of the role of women in every sphere and appreciated their role in socio-economic development of Ladakh.

The BJP party requested all the people and its members to come ahead to contribute in political actions and activities and help leadership and management in the betterment of region Ladakh. It was declared that the important program of BJP party would be to try hard for Union Territory status for Ladakh and the campaigning will be strengthen in support of it.
