Shachukul Monastery Ladakh

is situated in the east of Leh town towards Pangong Lake at the height of 13930 feet from sea level.Shachukul word is mainly derived from Shar-khul that means shar for east and khul for corner that faces to the east side. Because of slope terrain of the mountain, the cold water melt and flows from the west toward the east which makes the people feel unique from all the other monastery. The important thing about Shachukul is that temperature does not increase more than 25 degree all over the year.The best time to visit the shachukul Gompa ladakh in summer time.

is most beautiful monastery to visit. There is a big monastery which belongs to Digung Kargut Sect in Buddhism which has only three big monasteries in Ladakh such as Lama Yuru and Phyang and Dalai Lama visited two times by date this dat. All the people are follower of Buddha.

During farming season the farmers bring out their prayer books from monastery to invoke the good spirits and God's blessing onto the fields of every household for good crop and harvest. Every year during the July month in Shachukul Monastery Ladakh held a famous festival called Shachukul Gustor. On this festival the city comes alive and dances are organized which attracts the tourists from all over the world. This dance shows the victory of black hat dancers over evil. The followers of Tibetan Buddhism take part in this festival.
