Spituk Gompa ladakh

is lying on top hill next to Indus valley which is at a distance of 18 Kms from Leh.The founder of Spituk Gompa ladak were Od-De who was the elder brother of Lha Lama Changchub-od. Spituk is a three-chapel monastery. The Spituk means excellent, that has been derived from a statement of a translator, Rinchen Zangpo, about the monastery. Monastic community was firstly introduced by Od-De. After sometime one of the translators came to this place and spoken that words that an ideal spiritual community would rise.During this time Spituk Gompa monastery belongs to the Kadampa School.

After many years Spituk monastery Leh get control and function under Dharmaraja Takspa Bum - Lde Lama Lhawang Lotus.He introduced order of Gelukpa. Nowdays ,this monastery function under the Gelukpa order.Ther are three other monasteries of Spituk monastery Ladakh which are considered to be the part of this monastery which are Sankar, Tashi Gepel , Gurphung.The incumbent which are helping in these monasteries are the consecutive reincarnations of Skyabsje Bakula Rinpoche.

, has the main image of Lord Buddha. Along with that is a sacred image of Amitayus, about a finger high in length. Tsongkhapa has provided this image to Takspa Bum-Lde. It also boasts of a rich collected works of thangkas, ancient masks, antique arms, etc. And it should not be missed because it is an inspiring picture of Mahakaal. Dukhang which is the main temple of Spituk Gompa ladak has has a high throne at its far end which is commonly reserved for Dalai Lama. There is a dark old chapel which leads to central throne.Tsong-kha-pa having central images inside the chapel and with two chief disciples and of the Buddha. The Gustor Festival is the annual festival which is organized at the Spituk monastery Leh. The festival is always celebrated place from the 27th to 29th day in the eleventh month of the Tibetan calendar. A sacred dance is also forms a part of the celebrations.

In the front of the Buddha statue there is a large bowl of wax with a central flame, symbolizing divinity and purity. The interesting thing is that the flame burns endlessly for one year. This flame burns, before getting replaced.
